Wamalwa’s Likuyani MP Bid Faces Fresh Questions Over Record at Water Agency
Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency CEO Joel Wamalwa’s reported bid for the Likuyani parliamentary seat is facing growing scrutiny, with his critics raising questions over his leadership record and management of public resources at the agency.
Wamalwa, who has increasingly become visible in Likuyani politics ahead of the 2027 General Election, is being presented by his supporters as a potential candidate with administrative experience.
However, his political opponents are now demanding greater scrutiny of his record at the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency, particularly the implementation of water projects under his leadership.

Critics have alleged that some projects associated with the agency have been poorly executed and have questioned whether public funds allocated to such projects have delivered value to taxpayers. The allegations have not been independently established, and no evidence reviewed for this report conclusively links Wamalwa personally to the loss of public funds.
The controversy comes amid wider questions over the management of public resources at state agencies, where project quality, procurement and expenditure remain subjects of public accountability.
Wamalwa’s critics argue that anyone seeking elective office should be prepared to account for their record in public service before asking voters to entrust them with greater responsibility.
The debate is also extending to his grassroots political activities, with opponents accusing his political camp of using aggressive mobilisation tactics. Those claims, too, remain allegations that require evidence and a response from Wamalwa.
As the 2027 political contest gathers momentum, Wamalwa is likely to face increasing pressure to explain his record, defend his leadership style and demonstrate what he would do differently if elected Likuyani MP.
