Teachers and parents at Sinoko Junior School in Likuyani Constituency have raised the alarm over leaking classrooms and deteriorating school buildings, warning that pupils could be exposed to unsafe learning conditions as heavy rains approach.
The parents say the school has not benefited from major renovations or construction of new facilities since 2020, leaving learners and teachers to rely on aging structures that are increasingly difficult to use.

The administration block is reportedly among the most affected facilities, with teachers forced to leave their offices and seek shelter in classrooms whenever it rains.
Parents say the situation is disrupting school operations and putting additional pressure on classrooms that are already in poor condition.
“The administration block is leaking and teachers are forced to camp in classrooms when it rains,” a parent told journalists.
The parents fear that continued rainfall could worsen the condition of the buildings, potentially disrupting learning and exposing pupils and teachers to further risks.
They are now appealing to Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe to visit the school, assess the situation and facilitate the construction or renovation of facilities before the rains intensify.
The parents say urgent intervention is needed to ensure pupils have safe and conducive classrooms, while teachers can work in offices that are secure and protected from the elements.
They have also called on relevant government agencies to inspect the school and establish the extent of the damage before the situation deteriorates further.
