The First-Year Orientation Programme at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) continued with senior university officials urging newly admitted students to embrace their academic journey with discipline, focus and commitment.

Addressing the students, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Hussein Golicha, welcomed the first-year students to the university and encouraged them to take full responsibility for their education and personal development.

Prof. Golicha challenged the students to actively participate in university life, make use of the opportunities available to them and remain focused on their academic goals.He emphasized that university education goes beyond classroom learning, urging the students to develop themselves academically, professionally and personally as they prepare for their future careers.

The Principal of MMUST TVET College, Prof. Stephen Odebero, also addressed the students, highlighting the importance of acquiring practical and industry-relevant skills alongside academic knowledge.

Prof. Odebero stressed the value of pedagogical skills and competency-based learning, encouraging the students to develop competencies that would enhance their employability, innovation and ability to contribute meaningfully to society.

The orientation programme also featured presentations by various Directors under the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. The officials took the students through their respective mandates, services and programmes available within the university.The sessions provided the first-year students with important information on academic support, student welfare and other services designed to enhance their university experience.

The university said the orientation programme is aimed at equipping new students with the knowledge and guidance necessary to navigate university life successfully while making the most of the opportunities available at MMUST.
