Cherang’any MP Patrick Simiyu has threatened to initiate an impeachment motion against Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen over what he claims is bias in the recruitment of chiefs and their assistants in Trans Nzoia County.
Simiyu accused the Interior CS of unfairness in the appointment process, arguing that some communities and areas were being disadvantaged in the recruitment of national administration officials.
“Murkomen should be impeached because he is biased in appointment of chiefs and their assistants in Trans Nzoia,” he said.
The legislator warned that he could push for an impeachment motion against Murkomen if the concerns surrounding the recruitment process are not addressed.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over the recruitment and deployment of chiefs and assistant chiefs, positions that form a critical link between the national government and communities at the grassroots.
Simiyu is demanding transparency and fairness in the appointment process, particularly in Trans Nzoia, as pressure mounts on the Interior Ministry over the manner in which administrative positions are being filled.
