Youths from five Western Kenya counties have pledged to support Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in whichever political outfit he chooses to contest under ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The youths said their support for Sifuna was based on what they described as his commitment to the Linda Mwananchi movement, insisting that his political future should not be dictated by individuals or political parties.
They also turned their attention to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, asking him to step aside and accusing him of attempting to influence Sifuna’s political direction.
The youths alleged that Babu was being used by the government to undermine the Linda Mwananchi movement. The claim was made by the youths and has not been independently established.
“Babu, leave our son alone. You cannot force him to use your party,” the youths said.
They further called on Sifuna to remain focused on the movement and said they would stand with him regardless of the political party or coalition he ultimately chooses.
The declaration comes as political realignments gather pace ahead of the 2027 General Election, with various groups seeking to influence the direction of opposition politics and the emerging Linda Mwananchi movement. The youths said they would continue mobilising support for Sifuna across Western Kenya and urged leaders within the movement to prioritise unity.
