The head teacher of Sinoko Junior School in Likuyani Constituency has broken her silence over the deteriorating condition of the school, raising fresh concerns over how pupils will cope with leaking classrooms during the rainy season.

Madam Roselyne Makokha said she had already raised concerns over the condition of the school, including a leaking staffroom, during a public participation forum held at Sinoko Church of God about two months ago.

However, she said little has changed since then.According to Makokha, her biggest concern now is the safety and welfare of pupils as the rains intensify, with some of the school structures in need of urgent repairs.

She appealed to Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe to intervene and help rescue the institution, saying the school has not undergone major renovations since 2020.

“I raised the issue of the leaking staffroom during the public participation meeting at Sinoko Church of God about two months ago, but nothing has happened since then,” Makokha said in a post.

The head teacher said the deteriorating structures have become a major challenge for the school, particularly during rainy weather. She expressed concern over how pupils will continue learning if classrooms remain vulnerable to leaking roofs.

Makokha also revealed that she has been forced to use personal resources alongside school funds to address some of the most urgent needs within the institution. She said she has personally supported efforts to renovate toilets and improve other essential facilities despite limited resources.

The head teacher now wants urgent intervention to prevent the situation from worsening, particularly as the rainy season sets in.Her concerns come amid growing calls from parents and teachers for authorities to address the condition of the school and provide a safer learning environment for the pupils.

The head teacher said she remains committed to improving the school but stressed that some challenges require support from government leaders and other stakeholders.

She appealed to the Likuyani MP and relevant education authorities to act with speed before the deteriorating structures pose a greater challenge to learning.
